WOMEN AND LEISURE (1988)
Part of the Calendar Magazine series, this programme looks at how women in the Yorkshire region spend their leisure time. It includes interviews with women from different social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds as well as academics who have published studies on the topic.
This film sees Sheffield Council reform and modernize their approach to female leisure activities to make them more affordable and friendly for women from many different backgrounds. Reduced costs, transport, and childcare are the most crucial areas of support identified by busy women in the interviews conducted. We travel with them to the countryside where the women sample a range of outdoor sports and activities.
