GReat London Flood Disaster (1928)
Yachts in the streets and masterpieces on the move in Pimlico in this dramatic footage of the aftermath of major flooding in London. In January 1928, London was hit by major flooding following heavy snow, heavy rain and then a storm surge in the North Sea. The Thames recorded its highest ever levels and there was considerable damage as well as 14 deaths. This film shows part of that, with walls collapsed along the Embankment and tarmac destroyed. Damaged paintings are carried out the Tate at Pimlico and a yacht floats eerily down the road in Molesey.
